About me and my therapy practice

Hi my name is Sanj and I provide Counselling to adults, children and young people.

I have 13 years experience in this field of work and before that I’ve always worked in supportive and managerial roles within domestic abuse, homeless services, Cruse bereavement Care, family support worker roles, mental health, children’s worker and family therapy. We all face crisis in our lives from time to time, our mental health will go through difficulties just as our physical health.

Counselling gives you a confidential place to go, someone to talk to, who will listen, someone to explore your difficulties with in a safe secure environment.

I feel the relationship we will have is very important and is built and based on trust. You are the expert in yourself and your life, I am here to facilitate your process to understand and make sense of what it is that your experiencing. I work to enable you to work through the issues you may be facing. Together we define the level of support and therapy required. You are in the driving seat and I will work at your pace alongside therapeutic interventions to enable you to move forward and make sense of what it is that your experiencing, together we work to make progress.

My stance on offering support is to do just that, I work in an empathic, non judgemental manner and try my best to view your world through your eyes, as if in your shoes. My priority is to put you first. I work through conversation, and all therapy is bespoke and tailored to you (no one size fits all right?! ) as well as using many different tools from various theoretical bases to enable you to have the best possible experience.

About me and my therapy practice

I trained as an integrative supervisor and believe that good supervision is all about the relationship between supervisor and supervisee.

I offer integrative supervision for trainees and qualified counsellors, and professionals working within the caring professions. I offer clinical supervision, reflecting on client work, personal development, ethics, several modalities.

Sessions of clinical supervision are attended for at least 1.5 hrs on a regular monthly basis as per the BACP ethical framework for the counselling professions.

Supervision is often used to support you with difficulties you may be experiencing with clients, and to help you identify blind spots. However, I think there is so much more to supervision than this. With the right supervisor, you should feel supported and be able to grow both personally and professionally. For me supervision is a vital part of our personal and professional development, it’s about building a strong and positive relationship. Supervision is an integral part of counselling, it is important to find the right supervisor for you. The most important area is the relationship between the supervisee and supervisor. This relationship should be built on trust and honesty. There are times when we all struggle with things in the counselling room, this is where the right supervisor can help you explore this in a non-judgemental way.

Practice description

My approach to supervision is tailored to supervisees needs, there is always something new to learn and discover I am keen to share my experiences to develop the experience of fellow counsellors and therapists.
