It is always best to enquire by email or telephone leaving a brief message so we can discuss together what support is possible and what therapeutic approach is best suited to your needs.
Please call or email me to arrange an initial appointment, giving your availability, and please be prepared to give a brief description of your concerns, and perhaps your aims for therapy, thank you.
If your enquiry is urgent, I offer a free 20 minute connection on the telephone prior to booking an appointment.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a highly trained and experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and clinical counselling supervisor; with a background in education. I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology (MSc) and I am a Registered and Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I am also a Registered and Accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS) with status as an Accredited and Approved Supervisor. I have counselled people with mental health problems for various mental health charities, agencies and organisations, I have worked in the NHS as a psychology practitioner, and now work in private practice supporting people with their personal concerns. I am trained in Relationship and Couple Therapy; I understand how difficult it is sometimes to come to an agreement over sensitive and important issues; I support couples in conflict and work collaboratively to gain an understanding of the differences and difficulties in the relationship. I also aim to have an appreciation of the deeper issues which may underlie the problems, along with gaining a greater awareness of practical interventions which can facilitate and help break any negative patterns of interaction. My private practice provides a safe and confidential space where you are able to discuss your concerns in a calm and supportive environment. Sometimes we need the help of a therapist to provide a clear focus on what is important in our lives. Often our thoughts, feelings and emotional awareness becomes confused and we are unclear on the options we have, or the choices we need to make. Talking about your issues can give you a renewed perspective and provide a clear understanding to approach your difficulties and deeper issues.
Practice description
I offer counselling sessions for individual adults, couples, partnerships, and young people.
I usually hold counselling sessions at my private practice in my home office (face-to-face), online via a Microsoft Teams link and the telephone. This is discussed in the initial therapy assessment and can vary depending on the client's preference.
Sometimes just a single session, or perhaps a few sessions help the process of regaining control of ourselves and our situation. I am happy to offer Brief, or Time-Limited Therapy, if this is something you feel you would benefit from, depending on your situation.
My first session
During the first session we would discuss any questions you may have about the Therapy Agreement or contract, exchange contact details, confirm your identity and add relevant personal details. You will be asked to provide this necessary information in advance of therapy taking place. It is important that you provide your relevant medical history, any notify me of any medications that you are currently prescribed; and a named person who can be contacted in case of any emergency.
All sessions are arranged and paid for in advance by bank transfer or cash payment, usually by emailed Invoice and connection. An Invoice and additional information is provided before the start of the counselling sessions. The fee covers the therapist's engagement time in managing the initial contracting process, and helps to confirm your appointment(s); whilst ensuring you are given the relevant information to allow you to choose the right therapist to work with. In the first exchanges with the therapist, you can ask any questions and raise any point you may have about entering counselling therapy.
Sometimes if attending relationship or couple therapy you will be asked to complete an assessment form.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified counselling supervisor working privately as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I have an Advanced Diploma in Counselling Supervision (National Counselling Society Accredited,) with experience of working with trainee and qualified counsellors, supervisors and others working in clinical professions.
I utilize a range of modalities and supervisory approaches, depending on the ethical and therapeutic problems or matters raised. I encourage supervisees to be aware of the context and dynamics involved in many different systems and in the organizations in which they work, and where their clients attend for counselling. I believe this encourages a depth to the work which is so important, this supports a reflective practice. This also includes the normative, informative and restorative aspects, which I believe importantly adds depth and interest to the work.
As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I work with many approaches that are applicable to the circumstances of the client, these methods include Brief therapy/Time-limited therapy, Integrative, Existential , Pluralistic, Relational, Person-Centred, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Humanistic which encompases an Integrative approach.
In addition, I am qualified in Telephone and Online counselling and hold a Certificate in this method of working which is endorsed by the NCS and ACTO. Occasionally prior arrangement is possible to hold sessions via Microsoft Teams. I supervise both qualified counsellors and trainee counsellors with their private practice, in agencies, academic institutions, and charitable associations.
My first session
Initially we may speak on the telephone to arrange a first meeting for supervision, we would discuss together, what we believe to be important and necessary to be included in the joint Supervision Contract. Observing that this can be revised, discussed and altered by mutual agreement at any stage.
