About me and my therapy practice
My name is Peace Anumah and I have been working in the field of mental health since 2004, with over fourteen years experience in the counselling/therapy field.
My private practice is Piece into Peace (www.pieceintopeace.com)
I have a range of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. I am used to working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and have worked within Psychiatric hospital, statutory organisations, the corporate world and the voluntary sector.
Having trained and worked in the United States of America and with a member of the Ackerman institute as my mentor, I bring with me a wealth of cross cultural expertise.
I use a combination of different therapeutic approaches such as Client-centred; CBT; Psychodynamic; Systemic; Narrative and Solution-focused.

In my practice, I create a safe space where my clients can feel relaxed and can openly speak, scream, cry, vent and charge forward with fierce determination to a more rewarding life. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where individuals, couples and families can have time and space to explore and understand their thoughts and feelings, helping them navigate through the complexities of family life, work, relationship etc.
As a trauma informed therapist, I am aware of the complex impact trauma (any perceived trauma) has on a person’s suffering and how it shapes a person’s ability to cope. I also help clients whose childhood, bad relationships, bad experiences and over all past, affect their decisions and choices in having a fulfilling life. Don’t let the voice from the past ruin your present and future.
I offer counselling support to help clients – individuals, couples and families, to create a vision, set goals and time lines to encourage them to remain organised and focused on their journey to therapeutic healing and change. With my strategies, clients are able to realise and learn how thought processes (the negative self-talk) impact feelings and behaviours; how to resolve conflict and develop healthier ways of communicating.
I enjoy helping people; this is my innate and natural instinct. When a person is in need, like a knee-jerk reaction, I always offer a helping hand. I value personal growth and connection to clients, helping clients get “unstuck” by removing any barriers and roadblock inhibiting their passion.
My first session
An initial counselling assessment is offered to all clients. This assessment process is not counselling but it is a necessary part of deciding if we can offer you counselling going forwards.
The initial assessment gives you an opportunity to meet me and discuss why you have come to ‘Piece Into peace’ and what you want to get from the counselling. We will also discuss a number of other topics such as explain what counselling involves; Counselling contract; and answer any questions you might have.
The initial assessment session (s) will normally take 50 minutes. An essential part to your therapeutic experience requires developing a therapeutic relationship with your counsellor. It is okay to say that you don't wish to work with me as it needs to feel right for you. Please note that the initial assessment can be more than 1 session depending on the situation.
If, at the end of this assessment process it is agreed that we may be able to help you, it is then for you to decide whether you would like to undertake ongoing counselling. If your counsellor doesn't think we are best placed to help you, they may suggest another organisation or other services that would be available to you.
