About me and my therapy practice
For over 20 years I have worked as a social care manager with voluntary and statutory organisations within the NHS.
In 1999 I trained at Durham University where I completed my professional counselling training to MA Level and commenced working for The Road Centre in 2001 as a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist.
I have worked within multi-disciplinary teams of consultants, general practitioners, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapist both in my social care role and as counsellor. I feel that my dual roles have offered me experience in both physical and mental health and have raised my awareness to the connection of both and its effect on our wellbeing.
My theory base is humanistic integrative including cognitive behaviour processes, TA and other theories I feel which will be beneficial within the process. My special interests are in relationships, couple counselling, stress management, anxiety, depression, loss, post traumatic stress disorder, abuse and other issues presented. I believe that by raising our awareness in the counselling process we can work towards exploring our choices and create change to improve our wellbeing.
