About me and my therapy practice

Hi, thank you for reading my information.

I provide trauma therapy and counselling from a quiet location in the South West Durham area.

I work with a range of issues and presentations utilising many therapeutic tools to fit the needs of my clients.

My main focus however is working with adults who have experienced traumatic life events. I am a trained EMDR and Rewind Practitioner and regularly use these trauma focussed tools in therapy.

I have worked therapeutically with individuals for over 26 years specialising in work with clients who are recovering from traumatic life events.  I have experience of working with people traumatised by sudden death, being involved in a major incidents and those who have experienced personal assaults. For 16 years I specialised in working with survivors of Domestic Abuse and controlling relationships or have experienced sexual violence including childhood abuse.

Many of my clients have long term trauma symptoms or Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). EMDR has proven an effective tool for many including those with phobias

All counselling work undertaken subject to acceptance at initial assessment.

Outreach available in some circumstances. Remote counselling on request.

Session fees £50 per session, inclusive of all preparation work and interim support call when necessary.

Concessionary rate of £30 per session for counselling students requiring personal therapy as part of their training.

Practice description

My therapy room is a Summerhouse located in a tranquil garden overlooking fields. We named it Esperanza which is the Spanish word for hope.

Specifically designed to create a safe, relaxing and confidential environment, client feedback has been positive. It is warm and inviting and although I can book rooms at a nearby health centre clients prefer to attend here.

Your initial appointment will last around 30 - 40 minutes, is free of charge and gives you the opportunity to get a feel for where we'd be working along with a sense of if I'm the right therapist for you.

The pace and methodology used in our therapeutic journey will vary from client to client. Your specific needs can be discussed at our initial meeting.
