Online work

I now have availability to take on clients. I am currently offering online work as I appreciate that limiting to a specific location each week may not fit into your working schedule. Online can be a more flexible option for yourself but if the need should arise for face to face work we can certainly discuss that as an option.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified psychotherapist. My practise offers a safe, supportive and confidential space for clients who work within the music and entertainment industries. I also work with clients who have family members who work within this umbrella.

Alongside my practise I work in the music industry for a well-established band. Within this role, my job has taken me in many directions including managing bands, live promotions, managing crew, working for record and publishing companies, festival production, and running a recording studio. In this time I have gained an in depth knowledge of the lifestyle this industry offers, the highs, lows and pressures that are associated with it.

Whilst all may appear great on the outside, from personal experience, I understand how in reality life can feel very lonely in such high pressurised situations for artists and industry professionals. The management of family/personal life versus life on the road, commitments to deliver others expectations and your own can all get in the way of being creative and often this leads to a block.

I've also seen the result of how building trusted and supportive relationships can be problematic within this industry resulting in addictions and isolation for example.

I also work with family members who are affected by loved ones who work within entertainment and music. Whether it be, for example, coping with long periods of absence as a result of life on the road, adjustments in routine, loneliness, isolation or managing connections and expectations when you come back together.

Practice description

It's my experience within this field that inspired me to embark on my formal Psychotherapy training at the University of Brighton believing that it is useful to anyone involved in these industries to feel that they are being listened to by someone who understands the line of work that they are in.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I believe that today's problems can be rooted in lived experiences or past traumas. With careful excavation, they can be overcome when acknowledged in a confidential and safe environment and by building the relationship within the room.

I've found this way of working an essential tool in moving forward or becoming unstuck and ultimately helping with the reasons that you have come to therapy in the first place.

I am direct but compassionate and personable, easing in gently the connection in the therapeutic relationship where your change can begin.

These are some of the things that come up in therapy...

Anxiety

Addiction

Creative block

Depression

Isolation

Loneliness

Loss of Identity

Managing personal and external expectations within the industry

Self Esteem

Stress and trauma recovery

Partners and family members who have been effected by the entertainment lifestyle

Pressure on family life and relationships

Rejection

Relationships

Sexual assault
