About me and my therapy practice

Hi! I'm Amanda, an experienced counsellor dedicated to supporting you through life's challenges. Choosing a counsellor is a big step, however, whatever your reason for seeking counselling, I am here to help you explore and navigate problems and difficult times. I provide a safe, confidential space where you will be accepted, heard, understood and empowered.

I believe in the transformative power of therapy and I a passionate about helping you to achieve your goals for seeking counselling. My approach is non-judgemental, compassionate, warm and professional, ensuring that you receive the maximum benefit from our sessions together.

I work as an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist which enables me to work uniquely and flexibly using NICE evidence-based modalities. I use CBT, DBT, person-centred, psychodynamic and gestalt counselling modalities to help you get the best out of your counselling experience.

I have experience working with all issues, for example; anxiety and depression, trauma, abuse, couples and relationship therapy, work-related issues, grief and complicated grief, OCD, Eating Disorders, relational issues, stress, anger, marriage and betrayal, bereavement, life-limiting illness, low self-esteem and negative self belief, to name a few.

You don't have to manage on your own. I can work with you to provide support. Please do contact me and I am happy to provide a free telephone chat or book an initial session with no obligation to continue.

I provide in-person online counselling wherever you are via Zoom, Teams, Teams even by telephone or text.

Practice description

I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can feel truly heard without judgment.  My counselling practice is built on the foundations of safety, trust, and confidentiality, because I believe that healing happens when you feel secure enough to be honest, vulnerable, and fully yourself.

When we work together, you will be met with empathy, respect and genuine care. I tailor my approch to meet your unique needs-whether you are navigating anxiety, relationships, grief or personal growth. I bring both professional insight and a grounded, empathic presence to each session.

My first session

At the start of our work together, we will go through something called a counselling contract.  This isn't a legal document, more a clear, mutual agreement that outlines how we will work together.

It covers important things like confidentiality; what you share stays between us with a few legal exceptions, which I will explain clearly.

Session structure-how often we meet, how long the sessions last, fees, cancellations, and boundaries.

What you can expect from me- including my commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental space.

What I ask from you such as openness, honesty, and giving notice if you need to cancel a session.

The contract helps build trust and clarity from the beginning, so you feel safe and know exactly what to expect.
