About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my page. The world can be a big and scary place which can feel very overwhelming at times. It can be difficult to navigate, especially when you don’t have the support. It’s great that you have chosen to look for support.
I have gained training and experience in working with low mood, anxiety, stress and other common mental health problems using an integrative approach over the past 8 years. This means I have experience of working with adults and young people with a variety of mental health issues in various different settings such as education, mental health charities and the NHS. I have developed ways of working holistically that values you as a person and your life experiences.
By using a person-centred, solution focused and cognitive behavioural approaches, I can help you explore these difficult and scary feelings, without telling you what to do or think, and without any judgement.
Counselling offers you a safe space where you can explore how you’re feeling in that moment. It's a place to muddle things through and a place where you can explore and experience your feelings, and their meaning without any judgement. I will endeavour to walk alongside you as you go on this exploration and support you through decisions to be made and directions to take, and all the emotions you feel along the way.
First and foremost, my approach is client-led. This means that our sessions will be led by you and your needs. We will explore your areas of concern together. I will also use my experience where relevant to enhance and develop your journey into strengthening your mental well-being.
I believe you will find me to be genuine, honest, kind and encouraging.
Please do contact me and we can have a chat about how counselling can help. You don't have to go through this alone
My first session
I offer an initial, no-cost 30 minute phone session to explore working together
Sessions after are £50 for 50 minutes, and some concessionary rates for students/ low income are available.
Starting counselling is a very big step so it can be helpful to know what to expect from the first session.
The first time we meet may be a little bit daunting, but we will spend some time getting to know each other and I will ensure I provide you with a safe space where you can talk freely without judgement. We will use this time to find out if we are both comfortable with working with each other and to see if I'm the right counsellor for you.
We will go over a counselling agreement which explains things like confidentiality and cancellations, as well as what we can expect from each other and other practical details of counselling.
It can be helpful to learn a bit about you and what has led you to counselling in order to get an understanding of what your goals from counselling might be.
We can then decide how many (if any) sessions you would like, and you will not be under any obligation to arrange more sessions.
