About me and my therapy practice
A warm welcome.
I'm an experienced MBACP Accred therapist, with a degree (BSc Hons) in counselling, an enhanced DBS check and GRASAC accreditation to work with sexual violence.
Together we can explore what you feel ready and safe to share. What does it feel like to take off masks, shedding protective layers that keep the authentic, vulnerable self safe while navigating through challenging or traumatic times?
My area of expertise include:
Emotional and Sexual Abuse
Loneliness and social isolation
Body Image
Neglect
Sexual Assault
Gender Identity
Exploration of sexuality
Struggles with relationships and attachment
High Sensitivity
Suicidal Ideation / self harm
Bereavement
Empowerment Strategies
Strength based
Whether you experience yourself as being a misfit, lonely, stuck, anxious, burned out, depressed or alienated from the world, I will be at your side to support you. Along our journey I will offer my empathy and professional, evidence-based skills that hopefully will benefit your growth process.
My approach
Into my person centred practice, I integrate compassion focussed cognitive behavioural therapy (CF-CBT) that include:
mindfulness, linguistics and neuroscientific aspects. Additionally, looking at societal attitudes and cultural influences on gender and relational dynamics utilising experimental approaches such as guided imagery, voice and body work.
"Systems of authority undermine our self-authority to secure obedience, thus self-esteem becomes the root of revolution." Gloria Steinem

About me and my therapy practice
Supervision
Relational supervision is based on evidence that the quality of the relationship between counsellor & client is central to the effectiveness of the therapy.
The last couple of years has seen humanity facing challenges on a dramatic scale: mass human displacement, environmental crisis, the unveiling of a sexual abuse endemic, threats to democracy and the latest - the coronavirus pandemic. And during these fast-changing times, how do you respond to your client’s complex needs, provide emotional containment without denying your own needs and sacrificing your own wellbeing? I'm here to support you to build trust, develop deeply relational connections with your clients
Practice description
What does relational supervision entail?
Making contact: presence, attunement and resonance; personal experience, values, beliefs & attitudes which are often socially constructed. Values vulnerability.
Concept: Shared understanding of what we want supervision to be. Supervisor as a participant observer rather than an objective expert.
Sensitivity to context: What work brought in, other work counsellor is doing, Issues that might affect individual boundaries and our time together eg. Work, family etc.
Contracting: Agreeing on Terms and conditions.
My first session
I would recommend to book a one-hour introductory session to explore your experiences/expectations and the way I work. What I can help with
Abuse, Anxiety, Bereavement, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Trauma, Women's issues
