About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified counsellor and supervisor with experience and training of working with adults, children and young people. I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and I am bound by its code of ethics and practice.
I am person centred trained, but like to think of myself as an integrative therapist, as I am always led by the individual needs of my clients. I provide short and long term counselling with adults, children and young people. I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to work in both the private and voluntary sectors working within established, nationally and regionally recognised counselling services with both adults and children. I acknowledge and appreciate the differences in each individual and welcome people from all walks of life.
I have worked in numerous areas, including:
• anxiety
• depression
• stress
• bereavement
• relationship issues
• self-harm
• abuse
• trauma
• gender
Practice description
I believe that each individual has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change. My philosophy is one of respecting each individual and their ability to become more self- aware and reach their own true potential in all aspects of their life. I respect the ability of every person to live their own life, work through their own problems, make their own choices and ultimately move forward and make the most of their life.
I am always led by the individual needs of my clients and by offering them a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment we can explore whatever may be going on. I help my clients to find the answer to or acceptance of their individual experience, I work to understand my clients from their point of view, positively valuing them whilst aiming to be open, genuine and at times challenging. I help my clients to reconnect with their core values and sense of self-worth which can lead to greater clarity, a feeling of empowerment and ultimately a happier way of being.
