About me and my therapy practice

If you work with people in a frontline service or have done in the past then R&R Treatment Services can help.

If you are having relationship difficulties?Using alcohol to excess?Tempted or used drugs?Having problems sleeping?Contemplating harming yourself or committing suicide?Gambling or behaving recklessly?Feeling restless?Experiencing violent thoughts or rages?Often overwhelmed by your emotions?Say to yourself “man up”?Shutting down or numbing to cope?Experiencing flashbacks?Seeing other people coping and think so should I be?With friends or relatives telling you that you have a problem? Then R&R Treatment Services is for you.

I am a Psychodynamic and Sensorimotor Psychotherapist with more than 20 years experience of working in frontline services.I have worked for organisations providing frontline services to patients for over 20 years and more recently private practice. I know firsthand the challenges that exist for both organisations and staff working within frontline services and understand the barriers to getting help and the courage needed to face up to things not being quite right.Working therapeutically within frontline services especially at times of stress has given me direct experience of what it takes to work in these professions and the impact this has upon daily life. Some of the most difficult challenges are the ones linked to looking after ourselves.Facing unique occupational risks and hazards can compromise healthy psychological functioning and require specialist services tailored to your needs. The attributes that make a person successful in frontline roles can then place them at risk of needing specialist help.A specialist role requires a special kind of help.I have a website which explains more so please have a look.

Practice description

Re-telling your story is not necessary for effective therapy to take place.  Using the natural healing processes of the brain and body difficulties can be worked through and nervous systems settled so that our optimum way of functioning in the world can be restored.   Developing awareness of what promotes stability and resources to deal with the situations we face alongside understanding what has gone before is important so that we can update our systems to fit what we want to be in our current life .

Alongside therapy sessions I offer clinical supervision and Sensorimotor psychotherapy consultations to support other professionals.

My first session

The first time we meet is always an assessment session where we can think together about what has bought you into therapy and what you want to gain.  As part of this there are some questionnaires to complete before we meet to help gather information about what is troubling you.  By the end of this first session I will suggest treatment options or sign post you to alternative options.  You can then have time to make a choice about opting into the therapy sessions.  This is done collaboratively
