About me and my therapy practice

Hi I’m Ali. The last 18months of living with Covid has put enormous pressure on our relationships and intensified our inner struggles. I help couples who are experiencing conflict and individuals who are struggling in their relationship with themselves or another. Perhaps they are struggling in a particular relationship, feeling angry, guilty or sad but not always knowing why. Or they may be struggling to get close to others always feeling disconnection and isolation. Or maybe they just don’t like themselves and don’t feel good enough to be loved or valued. Perhaps they can’t relax in their relationships and constantly analyse their own behaviour; blaming and self-critical thoughts running over and over in their heads.

I help people to like themselves and be gentle and compassionate towards themselves, so that they can relax in their relationships and be braver about being their true selves. I do this by helping them to understand the experiences that have shaped them as individuals or as a couple, to come to terms with the pain that lingers and to find things in themselves to value and celebrate. When they work with me they begin to feel more comfortable in their own skin and build more mutually fulfilling relationships in which they are free to be themselves.

I have spent 19 years supporting people through difficult relationships and life changing events, as a solicitor practicing family law, as a health care professional providing psychological and spiritual care to people facing life limiting illness and as a counsellor. I have a have a 1st class degree in counselling and 6 years’ experience. I am a trained mediator and Restorative Justice facilitator, and I deliver training workshops in both communication skills and handling conflict.

If you are wondering if I can help you please do get in touch or take a look at my website where you can meet me and hear more about how I can help.
