About me and my therapy practice
The last 18 months of covid restrictions have been intensely difficult for most people, putting pressure on our relationships, increasing our sense of isolation and intensifying our inner struggles. Perhaps you are experiencing anxiety or depression for the first time and you don't know how to regain your peace and sense of being okay. Or perhaps you feel overwhelmed by old familiar struggles that you used to be able to cope with:
• maybe you feel angry, much of the time, it's wearing you down and causing distress in your relationships
• maybe you don't like yourself and wish you could be someone else, you long to fit in to feel connected to people, but you don't believe you are enough to be loved or valued
• maybe you have been badly hurt in the past and you are tired of carrying the pain and battling your fears.
If any of this feels familiar, then having a safe space to talk about your experiences can help to unpick the tangle of painful thoughts and feelings that trouble you. This can bring fresh perspective, enabling you to think new thoughts about yourself and make the changes that will help you to rediscover peace and enjoyment in life.
The majority of people I have worked with have come to me struggling with low self-esteem or anxiety or having experienced some form of abuse or other life changing event.

I take an integrative approach in which I seek to draw insights from a range of different theoretical models. This allows me to shape a counselling process which is individually suited to you and your needs. My website provides more information about the theoretical frameworks I use and how they can be helpful.
I have a first class degree in counselling, and over six years counselling experience. In addition, I have five years experience providing psychological and spiritual support to patients and their families in a healthcare setting. I am trained in interpersonal mediation and Restorative Justice facilitation and this, combined with a professional background in family law, means that I bring a depth of insight and experience to helping clients explore relationship difficulties.
My first session
A first session with me is an assessment session in which I seek to understand the issues you want to work on and the change you hope to achieve. This helps me to be clear that I have the skills to meet your needs. It also helps you to decide whether I am the right person to help you by giving you a sense of what it would be like to work with me. I offer a 90 minute first session, of which the first 30 minutes are free.
