About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor based in Burnley and working with clients in East Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen, Calderdale and the surrounding areas
As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, I follow their code of ethics.
I have additional qualifications in meditation and relaxation as well as training in supporting people who self harm, therapeutic work with children, domestic violence and mental health. I have gained experience through counselling in Sure-Start, Brook and Place2be.
I am an Anxiety UK approved counsellor and work with clients who experience high levels of anxiety and panic.www.anxietyuk.org.uk
On of my main areas of interest is Autistic Spectrum Conditions including Asperger Syndrome. I have over 15 years experience of working with children and adults who have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Condition including Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism.
Children and Families
Children also at times difficulties which can benefit from counselling, although it is important to reach the child from a perspective they can understand, often through 'play'.
I offer children a variety of ways of working which can allow the child to explore emotions, problems and experiences.
I am a therapeutic play practitioner and I have worked with children and families for many years. I have a special interest in Autism Spectrum Conditions, Neurological conditions, Selective Mutism and Social Anxiety.
I offer children a way of communicating through Therapeutic Play, Creative Therapy, Relaxation, Sand tray, Drawing and Talking, Role Play, Painting and Drawing, Puppets, Movement, Creative Visualisation, Therapeutic stories and Sound.
I work with parents, grandparents and siblings as working together as a family can allow individuals to gain the view of others and an understand the child's process.
