About me and my therapy practice

 Hello, I'm Monica,  I am a Person-Centred Therapeutic Counsellor.

You could be struggling with feelings of low self-esteem, stress, anxiety or depression; or experiencing personal and relationship difficulties; or be struggling to come to terms with particular life events. It could be that you have suffered from loss or bereavement.

I provide a safe, confidential space in which to help you to talk about and to explore personal issues. I am non-directive in my approach which means that you are able to explore your feelings in your own way and at your own pace.

I will listen to you very carefully, with empathy, warmth and understanding. I will help you to express your feelings and what is on your mind. In this way, a trusting therapeutic relationship will develop in which I will help you to understand yourself better and from that can follow healing and change.

It is important to find a counsellor with whom you feel comfortable so please do call and have a conversation with me to see whether you would like to work together.

I am certified in counselling for couples and relationships. I have completed specialist training and been awarded The Grove's Certficate in Couple/Relationship Therapy accredited by COSRT at Level 5.

In couples and relationship counselling, I work with a more directive approach than I do with my individual clients. I have been trained in the Homeodynamic model which involves looking at what may be happening within us as individuals, looking at our mind, body, brain and emotions, whilst at the same time considering that we do not exist in isolation.

Our experiences and behaviours are influenced by our society, culture, external environment and of course other people; our families, friends and lovers including those from our past and whilst growing up. So, couples and relationship counselling is about exploring how all these factors interact in both relationship to ourselves and in relationship to our partners and others.

Practice description

I offer sessions for individual clients both online and in-person.  Choosing online enables you to be in an environment which feels familiar to you. Of course, it is important that you have a space to talk in which is private and where you cannot be overheard.

If you choose to meet in person, you will find me in the town centre of Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

I currently offer Couples/Relationship Therapy sessions in-person  in Hitchin.

My first session

I understand that it is important to find a counsellor with whom you feel comfortable. In order to help with this process I am happy to offer a free initial telephone conversation.  During this call you will be able to find out more about my approach and about how I work -  and you may like to tell me a little about yourself.
