About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist based in Clapham, SW12. My clinic is located just three minutes’ walk from Clapham South tube station and offers a calm, confidential space in which to discuss whatever is troubling you.
As a rule of thumb, psychotherapy can help when life seems either “too much” or “not enough”—or perhaps both at once—for you. Though genetics can play a part in this, it is very likely that your past and present experiences will also be significant factors. You may find yourself feeling:
* Anxious or stressed.
* Depressed, flat, or somehow empty.
* Unable to recover from a loss.
* Lonely and struggling to form friendships.
* As though you’re always in conflict with other people.
* Troubled by intrusive thoughts or memories.
* Repeatedly drawn to unsatisfying and possibly self-destructive behaviours.
* Concerned about your sexuality and/or identity.
* Physical symptoms that don’t seem to have a medical explanation.

I am a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council and adhere to their rigorous ethical standards. I am also a registered practitioner with several major health insurance providers.
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist qualified to work with adult patients. Following two years of introductory studies at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust, I completed my clinical qualification in psychodynamic psychotherapy at WPF Therapy, which has been training clinicians for over 50 years. In addition to my private practice, I work in the NHS as an Honorary Psychotherapist for both Southwark and Lambeth IPTT. I also have much experience as a volunteer support worker, particularly in forensic and inpatient settings and as a crisis line volunteer. I have a particular interest in the use of evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.
Note: during the lockdown I have transitioned to online work, but as restrictions are eased I am willing to resume face-to-face sessions with due precaution.
My first session
Deciding to contact a therapist is a big step that can cause anxiety in itself. This is natural—after all, you’re potentially going to be sharing a lot about yourself with someone you’ve never met before.
As a training requirement as well as for my own benefit, I have undergone extensive therapy myself, so I can empathise with the feeling.
The first session lasts up to 90 minutes and is more like a consultation. It is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to decide whether you are comfortable working with me as your therapist. I will encourage you to talk about what has led you to seek therapy and what you hope to achieve from it. I will also ask some questions to help me get a better picture of your life, including relationships past and present. Equally, you should feel free to ask me any questions about therapy that come to mind.
There is no obligation to continue with therapy after the first session.
Subsequent sessions, if you decide to continue, last for 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week.
