"Most of us experience stress and distress at certain points in our lives. The good news is that there are effective, evidence based, psychological treatments. Often the challenge is finding someone who is a qualified expert professional who can help us successfully navigate our way through these upsetting experiences and difficult times.

Amy combines robust psychological knowledge and extensive clinical experience with a thoughtful, emotionally intelligent and compassionate approach to patient care. Amy provides an excellent standard of clinical care whilst building rapport and a strong therapeutic alliance with patients.

She establishes a highly collaborative approach to helping her patients develop, and maintain, an effective tool-kit of cognitive and behavioural techniques to improve their psychological health and wellbeing." (Dr Brian Marien)

Dr Marien worked as a doctor in West Sussex. He set up and ran a clinical service for West Sussex GPs funded by the Health Authority. He also setup a Health Psychology service in West Sussex and worked as specialist in the Academic Department of Psychological Medicine, St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

My first session

Feeling overwhelmed with emotions such as sadness, anxiety, anger and guilt can be extremely difficult to cope with and can have significant effects on your capability and relationships with others. If you are struggling to cope and and doing things that are damaging to yourself, your future and others, you are not alone and it is important that you access the right support to ensure that you can begin to get better.

I will work with you to help you describe how you are feeling and make sense of what is happening to you. I will support you  with kindness and empathy but as the therapy moves forward you will also be challenged when you are ready, so that you can begin to take take control of your problems and make different decisions in your life that lead to better outcomes.

CBT has one of the strongest evidence-bases for effectiveness for a wide range of problems. It is recommended by NICE (National Institute of Health and Care Excellence) for and has been proven through hundreds of clinical studies over the past 20 years to effectively help with the large majority of psychological problems.
