About me and my therapy practice
I understand that life can be difficult and there may be times when you could benefit from talking to an approachable counsellor. Collaboratively we can explore challenges or issues that you are facing and work towards empowerment for change. I specialise in neurodiversity (ASD/ADHD) and offer a therapeutic space for children, young people and adults to develop self-awareness and coping strategies.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor who is committed to offering you a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space to allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I draw upon different approaches which will be personalised to suit you. As every client is unique my approach is based on your needs.
My work with children and young people involves understanding the presented behaviours which will then enable their communication. I work with children and young people to improve their emotional literacy which would enhance their educational experience and wellbeing. To enrich the sessions, I use play and creative resources, if relevant, to allow exploration of experiences and emotions.
My background consists of working for 15 years in an SEN school which specialises in autism. More recently I support pupils emotionally and offer family support to schools within an academy. This support includes emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties the children and young people may be struggling with which could be affecting their education and wellbeing.
Practice description
I work with adults, young people and children, in person, online or by phone. Sessions are 50 mins in length and we can work on a short term or long term basis.
I have worked with a wide range of issues including but not inclusive of autism, ADHD, bereavement, loss, anxiety, anger, depression, abusive relationships, conflict, family problems, low self-esteem/self-worth, sexual abuse and rape, self-harm, disordered eating, body image, building resilience, trauma, infertility, negative thought patterns and intrusive thoughts.
I hold a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Dip Cons. I hold a foundation degree in psychology.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work within their ethical code.
I am fully insured, ICO registered and hold an enhanced DBS check.
My first session
I offer a free optional 20-minute introduction / getting to know each other session, online or by phone. If you wish to go ahead with an initial session, my standard fee applies. I do encourage clients to think about how the first session has been as the need for a good match with your therapist is crucial. If we begin to work together, I will provide you with my therapy contract, which will apply from this point onwards.
The therapy will be reviewed at regular intervals to ensure you are getting what you need, and to address any challenges that may have arisen in the work.
Please call, text or email and if I am unavailable I will respond as soon as possible.
