When I am able to return to 'in person' sessions, these will take place in a central location in Hurstpierpoint. However, I will continue to offer online sessions also.
About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Val. I am an experienced humanistic integrative counsellor offering a warm and supportive space in which you can explore your thoughts, feelings and concerns without judgment. I offer weekday daytime and evening and Saturday appointments.
I have experience of helping people with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, trauma, stress, low self-esteem, relationship or family issues, health challenges and coping with change and transition.
Together we can focus on whatever is important to you, working at your pace and helping you to gain deeper insight and awareness of yourself and the challenges you face. I will listen sensitively to what is going on for you right now and will seek to understand your experience with empathy and compassion.
My aim is that my calm and open approach will support you in making sense of your situation, finding effective ways of coping and in making positive choices for a fulfilling and happier life.
I am working remotely only at present but I hope to be able to offer face to face sessions again when it feels safe to do so. Sessions are held in Hurstpierpoint within easy reach of Hassocks, Burgess Hill, Ditchling and Haywards Heath.
Free on street parking is available close by.
Please do feel free to contact me for an initial informal (no obligation) conversation to find out more and explore whether I might be the right counsellor for you.
Practice descriptionAs an integrative counsellor the 3 main modalities which form the foundation of my approach are Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis (TA) which I use in a way best suited to you, your situation and what you hope to gain from counselling. I am also able to offer creative techniques.
I am also now offering Brainspotting, an approach which can help access, process and release stuck and buried feelings and trauma that have been stored in the body and brain.
My first session
I believe that one of the key factors in effective counselling is the quality of the therapeutic relationship and the trust between you and your counsellor. Our first session is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and get a feel for whether you will feel comfortable talking with me. It is also a chance for us to talk through your needs and how it might work if we decide to work together.
