About me and my therapy practice

BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor & Supervisor with over 16 years extensive experience in working with Adults, Students & Young People in private practice, secondary schools & the voluntary sector.

I am fully qualified in Online & Telephone Counselling and offer a warm, friendly & professional online service.

I qualified as a counsellor in 2006 from York St John University with the Graduate Diploma. I have completed many hours of additional training and CPD including Safeguarding and Trauma Informed Practice.

In addition to my work with Adults, part of my working week is spent counselling Young People secondary schools & I'm very aware of the issues they face including anxiety, stress, bereavement, identify & difficulties within family circumstances. I also have experience of working with Young People with SEN and autism.

I am also a member of the BACP School & College Expert Reference Group and have counselled college and university students.

I am an integrative counsellor drawing on a range of skills to best help you, depending on the issues you bring to counselling.

I am an Accredited member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework which includes having regular supervision with a qualified supervisor. I am fully insured and have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

My work is always underpinned by building a trusting, warm, empathic and confidential relationship with my clients.

Being able to talk these through in a confidential and non-judgemental setting can be hugely beneficial and provide relief enabling you to get on with your life.

This Certificate is mapped to the BACP supervision competence framework, the NCS Good practice guide for supervision and the ACTO Online supervision competencies.

In addition to working with Adults, my experience of working with Young People is both in Private Practice and Secondary School settings. I’m a member of the BACP School & College Expert Reference Group and I am a qualified Trauma-Informed Practitioner. I also have experience of working with Young People with SEN and autism.

I use an integrative approach to supervision based on the Shonet and Hawkins Seven-Eyed Model for Supervision

In supervision I aim to offer a mutual, supportive and challenging relationship in which the supervisee can explore issues relating to themselves and their practice in an open way. I also have a sense of humour which I think is an important addition to my work.

I am fully qualified to deliver online Supervision. 

Ethical good practice suggests that online and telephone practitioners should have supervision from a supervisor who is trained in the medium of online and telephone working.
