About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP Accredited counsellor with over 20 years experience of client work. My original training was in Gestalt, but I now draw on other modalities such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), life coaching skills and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). I am also a qualified counselling supervisor.
My practice is located about 10 to 15 minutes walk from York train station, near to the Knavesmire. There is free on street parking nearby. I also practice in Malton, near to the train station.
I am happy to talk over the telephone to answer any questions you have about counselling to help you decide if counselling is right for you.

My first session
The initial appointment is an opportunity to explore the issues that have brought you to therapy, to clarify what you hope to achieve through counselling or EMDR treatment [goals] and to understand how I work and how I might help you.
I will explain my understanding of confidentiality, how I comply with GDPR, ask you for some background information (I will make some notes during this first session), and answer any questions that you might have.
The appointment is up to an hour and there is no commitment to continue after that. If you decide that you want to work with me, I normally offer an initial six-sessions, at the end of which time, you can decide if that's enough to help you reach your goals, or whether more sessions would be helpful.
The fee for the initial appointment is £37.50.
