About me and my therapy practice
Searching for a counsellor who will work for you is an important step, and one which can be daunting. Maybe you’ve experience a recent loss or trauma, or you’re feeling overwhelmed and need a space to explore. Being accepted within a warm and non-judgemental relationship, is at the core of how I work. I can help you to find your own insights and strengths, enabling you to move towards more freedom in your life. I can lean on varying skill sets, as an integrative therapist, using creative writing, drawing and reflective practices.
I recognize and value the importance of feeling met in a safe and trusting relationship. Having a sense of safeness within the relationship, between us, is at the core of effective therapy. If we start by being easy and gentle with ourselves, caring and understanding ourselves more fully, can pave the way for a more compassionate way of living.
I can help with many challenges, your relationship difficulties, anxiety, bereavement, and healing from trauma. I have specific training and experience working with people who have experienced sexual abuse. I work supportively and sensitively, at a pace, led by you, cultivating a mindful and inquisitive approach, along the way.
I recognize there are painful and difficult times throughout our lifespan, when we all need a kind and supportive relationship, to go beyond, to see ourselves truly, and deepen our own understanding. I view relationship is a living, breathing thing, and when there is no need for it to go grow in a particular direction, we have more choice, more freedom.
I’m originally from Ireland, having lived here in the UK for 20+yrs now. Having previously lived in North America and the Middle East, it is from my own life experience, that I am able to connect with a diverse and wide range of interesting people.
I work for Newport Mind and Kinergy and I’m also registered with Sporting Chance, a therapy network offering specialist support for ex-professional sportsmen and women.
