I help clients to find relief from anxiety, stress, a sense of overwhelm, low self-esteem, loneliness, isolation.
Whether you are facing a difficult situation in your life right now, or a general sense of unease, confusion, feeling stuck, it is good to have a safe and non-judgemental space to unpack whatever is keeping you from thriving.
How counselling can help
Inevitably, each of us faces difficulties in life. These can be situational, such as major life crises, bereavement, difficulties in relationships, financial worries, work-related issues. Equally, we can be suffering from longer-standing issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem. You might feel overwhelmed and unable to find ways out of the suffering.
Even if you have friends and family around you, it may be difficult to speak to them openly for fear of upsetting them. Besides, well-meaning friends or family members might offer you advice or just tell you to "think positively" . This often happens because it may be difficult for them to tolerate the depth of the difficult feelings that you are trying to share.
Professionals such as counsellors and psychotherapists are not personally invested in your life circumstances the way your family and friends are. They have been trained to listen with an accepting and non-judgemental attitude. They endeavour to truly hear you and only ask questions that help you to explore the issue at heart, and to find your own answers.
It is my hope that our work together will enable you to make yourself feel calmer and more joyful. You will develop self-compassion as an alternative to self-loathing and relentless attacks from your inner critic.
You will learn ways of engaging in relationships more authentically and accept the limitations of human condition. Free from limiting beliefs, life will bring a new-found sense of aliveness and fulfilment.
What to expect in your first session
The first session is a chance for you to talk about your current challenge. I understand how difficult it can be to take the first step, especially if this is your first time seeking counselling. This 50-minute no-obligation session is there for you to ask questions and for me to take your history. This allows to decide whether we are the right fit and to agree on further work. For many clients coming to therapy is the first time that they feel heard and accepted unconditionally with warmth and compassion. The first sessions lay the foundation for a strong therapeutic alliance between us so that you can feel safe to explore whatever is troubling you.
How I work
If we agree to work together, it will be in the form of regular weekly 50-minute sessions, usually on the same day and time. We will first look at finding relief for your immediate issue and then decide if longer-term work would be beneficial in achieving more lasting change.
My approach is warm but challenging. The fundamental premise is for you to feel safe and accepted, and to go at your own pace. No subject is off limits, and I offer my full presence to truly hear what may be troubling you.
I believe that only you can be the expert on you and my role is to help you to find insight into the underlying causes of your distress.
As a transpersonal psychotherapist, I also help clients to explore spiritual and existential questions that often emerge due to a life crisis or simply as part of an intentional seeking.
I currently work online via Zoom. I work in English and Latvian.
My first session

This 50-minute no-obligation session is there for you to ask questions and for me to take your history. This allows to decide whether we are the right fit and agree on further work.
I charge £30 for our initial meeting, and £60 for subsequent weekly 50-minute sessions.
