About me and my therapy practice
I value and respect the uniqueness of each individual and therefore I work flexibly by drawing upon different approaches to ensure effective therapy is tailored to suit your needs. My aim is to provide a respectful, non-judgemental and caring therapeutic relationship for you to explore and work through your issues, thereby enabling you to achieve your aspirations. For this relationship to be successful, I offer a free consultation for us to decide if we are able to work therapeutically together.
I have over fifteen years experience of providing support and therapy in different settings including the NHS, Employees Assistance Programmes, private practice and voluntary organisations including Macmillan. I have provided therapy to a diverse range of people on many different issues. My experience also includes working as a tutor delivering counselling courses in various colleges, and delivering building confidence courses within a prison setting.
My specialisms include bereavement, loss, relationship problems, confidence building, self-esteem, work related issues, stress and anxiety management, health related issues, some of which have been in the form of group work.
I work with adults, older adults, couples and groups, and can offer day-time and evening appointments. My fee for couples is £50.00 and I also offer a concessionary rate of £30.00 to students on counselling training. For any more information, please feel free to contact me.
My private practice is based in an office on the ground floor in my home in Morley and the location is very accessible for clients within the Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford areas. There is ample parking outside.
Due to Covid 19, I am currently offering counselling via telephone, Skype and Zoom only.
My first session
For this relationship to be successful, I offer a free consultation for us to decide if we are able to work therapeutically together.
During this session, I provide information about my practice and ascertain your understanding of the counselling process and what your expectations are.
I provide information about the counselling agreement such as limits to confidentiality, time boundaries, fees, length and number of sessions etc. Data Protection issues, safe management of information and back-up plans relating to the usage of digital platforms are also discussed. Informed consent is sought and both are asked to sign the agreement before counselling proceeds.
A psychological assessment is also used to help identify and assess the depth pf psychological distress and the suitability of yourself for counselling.
Contact details, your age,the name and address of your GP and close family member or person will be collected, together with any current medication that you may be taking at this stage.
Within this session you will be asked to consider what has brought you to counselling and what you are wanting to achieve. I will provide a supportive, non-judgemental, warm and respectful space and will answer any questions for you to feel safe enough to take the next steps in your therapeutic journey
