About me and my therapy practice

‘I’m sorry to say so but, sadly, it’s true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you. And then you’re in a slump, you’re not in for much fun. Un-slumping yourself is not easily done…..’ Dr Seuss, ‘Oh the Places You’ll Go’

Hello, I am Jo Robb. I am a qualified counsellor, a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP); and I work in accordance with their Code of Ethics and Practice.

My counselling approach comes from both my personal and professional values. I offer my clients empathic understanding, offering unconditional positive regard from a genuine position, which means no matter what you say, or who you are, I will accept and care about you. I will listen to you in a caring, confidential, safe, and trusting environment.

Together, we will build a trusting therapeutic relationship, which will take us on an explorative journey of what has brought you to counselling and to a better understanding of your-self and where you fit into your world. Hopefully, this will lead to you experiencing greater satisfaction and happiness in your life and relationships.

The counselling you will experience with me is through a humanistic approach. This approach encompasses a range of therapeutic models, all coming from the attitude that we, as humans, are naturally creative and unique; that we have inherent worth; deserve respect; have an instinctive tendency to grow, change and achieve our full potential; and that our life experiences have the potential to be a resource to realising that potential. My humanistic approach also recognises that, sometimes, life circumstances may get in the way of these human qualities. I truly believe that my clients are the experts on themselves and that therapy is a co-created relationship.

You are not on your own. We can take this journey together.

About me and my therapy practice

Supervisor Jo Robb OCN Certificate in Counselling Supervision

I am a qualified supervisor and offer supervision to both trainees and qualified counsellors.

My supervising approach, like my counselling approach, comes from both my personal and professional values. I offer my supervisees empathic understanding, offering unconditional positive regard from a genuine position.

I believe the relationship between supervisor and supervisee is key to a successful supervising relationship.I believe supervision should allow you to reflect on all aspects of the relationship with your clients, within the therapy session, as well as the relationship with your supervisor in the supervising relationship.

I offer a FREE initial session to see if we both feel we could work together, where we can discuss and agree a mutual working agreement to help create a safe and trusting learning environment which reflects your individual needs. This safe learning environment should enable you to be reflective and curious about your practice and the impact of your work on you and your clients.
