About me and my therapy practice

The starting point is what you as a client have as your therapeutic goal or goals. Once you have decided what you want out of therapy the rest is a collaboration. I can help are those with specific issues, such as help making life changes, and those who want to talk more generally about their problems. In both cases we may find the conversation going back to past situations the implications of which have yet to be fully explored. In both cases it will be you the client who decides what you want to talk about, I will make suggestions based on my experience and training.

Practice description

I imagine you function well in some areas of your life but that in other areas of your life you have doubts. It may be that you are unhappy about yourself; critical, unforgiving, anxious or other negative feelings. There may be concerns about your past relationship with family or how you interact with people now.

An external event such death or other change of circumstance can be the tipping point that lead you to consider therapy. Its when things become too much that therapy becomes possible and improvements can be made.

My first session

The time to start therapy is when you feel you have run out of options and need help. This is often the time when therapy can be most effective. The first session will involve a conversation which includes stating a presenting issue, viewing a contract and some background information such as childhood, growing up, and current situation.
