About me and my therapy practice

Why come to counselling

People come to counselling for many reasons. You may have a very specific issue you would like to work on. Or maybe you are unsure but are feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Perhaps you would like a place to talk privately about something away from family and friends. Whatever is bringing you to counselling I am here to listen without judgement or agenda.

What to expect

My therapy is client led. What does that mean for you? It means we will work together at your pace and to your comfort level to find new ways forward. In our sessions we will discuss where you are now in life, your experiences of the world, and what you want from counselling. We will consider how all of this shapes the way you think, feel, and behave, and how that might impact your relationships with others. In talking things through we can begin to unlock solutions.

In my counselling practice I draw on different approaches and will always offer you everything in my therapeutic toolbox. This includes working in a holistic way considering not just thoughts and feelings but also your body’s response to certain situations. This will allow us to look at ways to improve your overall health, wellbeing, and resilience.

My background

I was born in central London and have lived within, worked, and been an ally to very culturally and ethnically diverse communities. Before becoming a therapist I worked in the NHS and within higher education. I have been part of the field of mental health and wellbeing for around 20 years.

As a therapist I have worked with many marginalised and diverse groups including unpaid carers, families affected by substance misuse, those experiencing chronic pain and long term health conditions, neurodiverse clients, and the LGBT community.

I trained as a therapist because when I needed it most a counsellor listened and for the first time I felt truly heard. I am here to offer you the same warm, impartial, and confidential space in which to talk.
