About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Natalie and my Online Practice is called Olive Tree Counselling. I am a creative-arts-counsellor working with 7–18-year-olds ONLINE. www.olivetreecounselling.org

I choose to meet children/young people in an ONLINE SPACE as a way of meeting the client right where they are at. It is often a preferred way of meeting for children/young people and is more comfortable and engaging as well.

Working through online platforms, shows me more quickly and clearly, what is currently going on for the child and provides a very creative way to work and discover together.

I specialise in helping children/young people that experience anxiety, panic attacks, disassociation and struggling to manage their emotions in everyday life.

My therapeutic model is integrative, which means that I can call upon a variety of modalities to best suite the needs of your child/young person. One way I offer to meet your child online is within the game platform of MINE-CRAFT. I can very quickly learn about your child this way; how they think, face difficulties, relate to others and project their inner world into their outer. I can also meet your child through the VIRTUAL SANDTRAY APP to explore what's going on for them using the 3D figures whilst communication through Zoom. Using ART MATERIALS is another way that I can explore feelings with your child/adolescent. This could be: paint, clay, toys, musical instruments, acting or role playing.

Exploring IMAGES, METAPHORS, STORIES, CREATED WORLDS, ONLINE AVATARS, can be a quicker and more effective way of exploring what's going on for your child. I also offer a space for your child/teenager to communicate through CONVERSATION.

Practice description

I offer sessions through: Video, Phone and Text within Zoom.

Sessions are (often) weekly, at the same time, 50 minutes in duration and are open ended depending on what is best for the child/adolescent.

If you are under 18 and interested in getting counselling then you would need to have a parent/carer agree for that to happen to go ahead.

If you are an adolescent or parent then please feel free to get in touch either on this page, my website, phone, email, facebook or instagram. (links on the website)

My first session

I aim to explore what’s going on at a deep level, using creativity to explore trauma in the unconscious realm.

I allow the client to lead me in a safe and boundaried space that I have created.

I help the client to discover grounding techniques when having processed difficult feelings, which they can aim to then implement into their every day life.

I offer a therapeutic relationship that is non-judgemental and accepting. I implement self-compassion, curiosity and awareness to help the client develop in these areas.

I have special interest and experience in helping children and young people managing anxiety and panic attacks. Helping children identify their current triggers, past traumas and discover coping strategies. I implement self-compassion and mindfulness to help build resilience and self-esteem.

I work with feelings in the body to identify patterns of disassociation. Working within a 3D image can be a powerful way to explore unconscious feelings.

I aim to bring psycho-education to the children and young people that I am working with to develop their understanding of good mental health.

I am a Certified Online and Telephone Counsellor trained by Counselling Tutor Online.

Working therapeutically with children and young people online requires me to continually be learning and developing.

I therefore, regularly partake in a variety of online platforms for continual professional development and training.

My first session

I offer a free 20 minute consultation.

This would be a chance for you and your child/young person to see what working with me would look like.

It would also be a time for me to find out more about why your child/young person wishes to receive counselling at this time and if I would be the right counsellor for them.
