About me and my therapy practice

Going through a rough patch and feel you would like some extra support? I support clients experiencing low mood, stress, worry or feelings of anxiety, due to various causes including relationship difficulties, health concerns, loss or bereavement, work pressures, and those affected by problems from their past such as a difficult childhood or low self-esteem.

As a person-centred counsellor I work with whatever issues you bring, my aim is to help you discover your own resources so you feel better in yourself and more equipped to deal with life’s ups and downs, My role as a therapist is to hold an empathic and non-judgemental space where you feel safe and supported enough to meaningfully explore any life issues you may be grappling with, and find new ways of relating and being in the world.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent the last two decades working with the body as a shiatsu practitioner and teacher, seeking to support and understand the whole person, body, mind and environment, as well as considering the impact of stress on the nervous system and on physical and emotional well-being. I am interested in mindfulness mediation and exercises to help regulate the nervous system, and these practices can inform my work as a counsellor.

Through previous roles I have supported those with long term chronic health problems including HIV and ME/CFS, disability, as welll as mental health and emotional diffculties relating to life experiences such as childhood trauma and post-natal depression

Practice description

I offer appointments face to face or online, or a combination of both. Most people choose to come weekly, at the same time each week, but this can be discussed depending on what works best for you.
