About me and my therapy practice
My approach to therapy is rooted in my passion for listening closely to the stories of others and helping them make sense of their lived experiences. I believe therapy that provides a compassionate human connection in a safe environment can be profoundly transformative.
Do you need to share your story and help to make sense of things? Are you feeling stuck, confused or misunderstood?
I hope to offer you a space to share your experiences at your own pace with someone who deeply values listening. I consistently work in a way that prizes the uniqueness of each of my clients and can offer you a range of accessible, therapeutic approaches to meet your individual need and communication style.
As a professionally registered BACP therapist I offer private counselling at yourstorytherapy.org and am also one of 12 counsellors working at NI Counselling, the largest team of private therapists in NI.
Practice description
My approach to therapy reflects my deep respect for the individuality of human beings and for the complexity of our lived experiences. We all need different things at different times for different reasons which is why I believe in tailoring therapy to meet individual need.
I have a particular interest in working with autistic adults and have over 8 years experience working in the field of autism. I understand how we can all see and experience the world differently and so with patience, collaboration and insight I am able to offer assurance, understanding and support.
As a neuroaffirming therapist, I recognise the importance and uniqueness of autistic experiences and the complexities that may present in therapy. I will listen closely to your story and hope to offer insightful support that helps you meet your goals in therapy.
Therapeutic support is also available to the family members of autistic adults and children who are seeking help and advice relating to autistic experience.
I am happy to meet in person, via telephone or using Zoom.
My first session
Your first assessment appointment will be a 50 minute session to gather some personal information, consider a working contract together and talk about the ways in which counselling might best meet your needs.
There is no obligation but if you are happy to proceed we will then arrange a date to begin therapy.
