About me and my therapy practice

Welcome,

I'm a Counsellor, Couples Psychotherapist and Supervisor offering appointments in Skipton centre as well as Shipley.

I will always provide a warm welcome and a safe, confidential space to allow you to express what brings you to therapy and what you'd like to achieve. If you don't know, that's ok, that can change over time.

I like to be curious about your current day to day symptoms (unhappiness, anxiety, relationships issues, self-harm, anger etc) as well as a gentle curiosity about your past experiences as they both are interlinked and can tell us a lot about you as well as helping you make changes in the longer term!

Feel free to contact me for a free 15 minute zoom meet or telephone call to ask any questions before you commit to a paid appointment.

My first session

All my appointments are the same fee, other than the free 15 minutes call or zoom meet.

In the first appointment, I'll take care of any admin (contact details etc ) and ask you what brings you, what you're exeriencing, and what you'd like to achieve. I like to regularly check in about this as we work together, ensuring you're getting what you need from your therapy.

About me and my therapy practice

A warm welcome to you,

I provide Psychotherapy & Counselling In Person and Online to both Adults and Couples (Relationship Psychotherapy). I have gained a wealth of experience since my training over 20 years ago, and I'm highly qualified with a Masters Degree as well as being Accredited with BACP. I am also currently studying an Advanced Diploma in Relationship Psychotherapy, which will deepen the knowledge I have when working with you as an individual and in a couple.

As I have many years of client experience to draw upon, as well as many hours and years of learning and studying, I have learnt ways of working with you that would benefit you the most. I would like to work with you taking into consideration your current difficulties and challenges as well as learning about your past and what you;d like your future to look and feel like.

I believe we cannot fully heal and be our true emotionally healthy self, without taking into consideration our past experiences and understanding how they have shaped us and how these impact on our relationships. I don't believe there are any 'quick fixes' so I won't promise you that, but I believe change can, and has happened in a short space of time.

If you're interested in the theories I draw upon; my work is integrative. Drawing upon Developmental, Relational and Trauma Informed approaches, including the most up-to-date research. I also draw upon Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Attachment Psychotherapy, Person-Centred Theory, DBT (Dialectic behaviour therapy) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Practice description

I provide a warm and welcoming therapeutic practice to all adults and couples. It's close to bus and train routes as well as free on road parking.

Once we've agreed an appointment, I'll send you our Working Agreement, so you know what to expect from me re: confidentiality,GDPR,complaints procedure, paying, cancelling/rearranging etc. Payments for appointments are paid online before an appointment, so we don't need to talk about it in your appointments, as this is your space for growth and healing.

In your first appointment, I'll hear from you what brings you and what you'd like to achieve from your therapy (if you know, sometimes this can take some time to know) and I'll regularly review this with you to make sure I'm working with you the best I can.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute zoom meet, telephone call or a 'pop in for a chat' so you can ask any questions about how I work and how I can help or support you.
