About me and my therapy practice
I have been a qualified counsellor for 12 years and have a broad range of experience having worked in the public and charity/voluntary sectors. I have worked with people who bring many, varied types of problems, especially depression and anxiety, loss and bereavement, trauma and abuse and relationship issues. I can work in a brief time limited way, or offer more longer term work.
Sometimes we can lose direction and our focus, or we can become overwhelmed by life events and relationships. I can offer you counselling in a confidential, warm and welcoming space, where you can talk freely about your issues without judgment or criticism. Counselling can give you the opportunity to pause breath, reflect and be heard. Through building a trusting relationship we will work together with the issues that you bring and find understanding of the thoughts feelings and behaviours that you experience.
Words can sometimes get in the way of what you are feeling, or you cannot find ways to say what's happening inside or verbal communication is just too painful. In situations like this I can also work with creative methods such as using art materials, images, metaphor, miniature objects or creative writing, to help you explore and express what you cannot put into words.
