About me and my therapy practice

I work with sensitivity, compassion, spontaneity and with a deep respect for people. I nurture connection, communication, creativity and deeper self-understanding.

I have worked as a school counsellor since 2014 and have a wide insight into the challenges facing children and young people - both in our education system, but in society more widely.

I offer counselling to children, young people or the families around them. Alongside my adult work.

Unfortunately I am unable to take on new clients until January 2021.

I am offering on-line and telephone counselling, with the possibility of some walk-and-talk sessions.

I have a few concessionary rates available.

Practice description

I offer usual talking therapy, based in the psycho-dynamic, existential models but I integrate it with the arts, which can be an alchemical force, allowing us to connect with our own innate wisdom. When appropriate I may use writing, poetry, painting, image-making or visualizations in the work so we see things differently.

Mostly we can’t make our difficulties disappear but we can imagine new ways of being, which enable us to outgrow current situations and find peace, contentment and a deeper appreciation of our own strengths.

We live in uncertain times, and we hate not knowing…

Uncertainty is a fertile ground rich with possibility. If we are brave enough to make a quiet space, we will often surprise ourselves with how much we do already know.

From the unknown unexpectedly luminous things can emerge.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to see if we can work together. I offer a reduced rate.

We create a contract for our work, I explain my working methods, explore a little what brings you to therapy and then we think together about the practicalities for on-going work.

When working with children & young people I take a thorough history for the care-giver / parent over the phone before the session. I will meet with parent & child for the first part of the first session and then will work exclusively with the child from that point onwards.

Trust and confidentiality are the pillars of successful therapy and need to be treated with care and respect.
