About me and my therapy practice
I work in an integrative way, which means I draw upon various methods and models to best support your needs.
Life can be hard, sometimes intolerable, making it difficult to eat, sleep, work or maintain healthy relationships. Counselling can help to make things easier and improve your wellbeing and ability to take care of yourself. I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor has the potential to raise awareness and understanding to help move things forward and unlock positive change.
We will work with your past experiences, influences and relationships as all are relevant and impactful on the way you are feeling today. Balancing this material from your past with what's happening in the here and now of the counselling room, is at the heart of my approach to therapy.
What is said in words and through the sensory experience of the body all contribute towards the process.
I work towards understanding your world from your point of view, whilst being genuine, compassionate and non-judgemental.
I believe in every individual’s capacity to be their own architect of change for themselves and their future.
My sessions last 50 minutes and would normally happen at the same time each week. I see people on a face-to-face basis in Kings Heath, Birmingham.
My first session
Our first session will be an opportunity for us to explore your current situation and the things you would like to change. We will spend some time getting to know one another and establishing whether or not I am the right therapist for you. There is no obligation to proceed with me as your therapist and if we decide not to, I will signpost you to alternative sources of support.
