About me and my therapy practice
Life can sometimes be difficult to cope with and counselling can be an invaluable support. As an experienced counsellor I aim to support you in finding a way through, and making some sense of, whatever situation you are struggling with.
Working together, we will try to understand your thoughts, beliefs, and experiences and what has led you to seek support. This learning and sharing of self really can lead to greater self-awareness and perhaps a fresh perspective on the circumstances you are experiencing.
It can feel daunting asking for help, but making the decision to see a counsellor is an investment in you. Already you are taking control, making a change, and striving to feel better.
I am a qualified, registered integrative counsellor. I regularly attend continuing professional development training, and have appropriate professional supervision, indemnity insurance, and a DBS enhanced certificate.
I usually work from comfortable practice rooms in central Windsor with free parking and easy access by public transport. I am currently seeing clients online. It may become possible to return to face-to-face work towards the end of September 2020. Please contact me for further details.
In addition to my private practice in central Windsor, I also work for the Windsor and Maidenhead youth and community counselling service called No 22.
My first session
In our first session we will usually discuss how we might work together and what the boundaries of a counselling relationship are. We are likely to talk about what you are seeking and perhaps hoping to gain from therapy.
Counselling can be short or long term depending on your needs and we can talk about this. The number of sessions you have is your decision although we will regularly review our work together. This aims to ensure that the focus of our work and the support I offer is meeting your needs.
As your therapist, I aim to develop a trusting, respectful and friendly working relationship with you. It is important that you feel you can talk and trust me, this may take a little time to grow. It is okay to feel that I am not the right person for you to work with.
