About me and my therapy practice
I can support you in your grief, especially if you are finding that you have no peace or meaning in your life. I am experienced in working with grief and know how someone's life can be left shattered after a loss. My journey to become a Counsellor was driven by my own life's experiences and when I needed to explore my feelings, I was allowed to do this without fear of judgement. I was listened to. I can be this person for you.
Having undertaken much training in the field of counselling, I found my niche to be in counselling the bereaved. I also have a special interest in Type 1 Diabetes; its implications and associated mental health. As I am a Reiki Master Practioner, clients can request a treatment when the therapeutic relationship has come to an end. I feel this adds a nice relaxing closure.
I offer a free 15-20 minute phone consultation in order that we can ascertain if we think we can work together. There is no obligation for you to book a face-to-face session.
Counselling Cottage is set in beautiful surroundings. My counselling room is also my Reiki therapy room and therefore has a calm, relaxed feel to it.
In the room is my fully-trained assistance dog, Frankie. He likes to introduce himself before settling down on his bed. I can assure you that, like me he is non-judgemental and welcoming.
My first session
If you book a face-to-face session following the phone consultation, I will cover how I work and explain confidentiality to you. Your first session may be slightly longer than the usual counselling hour of 50 minutes but will not be longer than 1 hour and 15 minutes.
