About me and my therapy practice
Choosing a counsellor can be daunting and there are many to choose from. I am a person-centred counsellor, working from the belief that each person has the right and potential to find solutions that work for them but that they sometimes need a bit of help in coming to their own understanding of their lives and experiences. Person Centred counsellors believe an important part of that help is in the form of the warmth and acceptance and genuine desire to understand what it is like to be you offered in therapy.
You deserve respect and to be met without judgement and this is fundamental to the relationship between you and your therapist. Because therapy is a special sort of relationship, the right therapist for you is one of the most important choices you can make.
I meet clients in my private therapy space in my home outside Milnthorpe, online (I use Zoom) and also outdoors (please ask about this).
Practice description
I have a Diploma in Counselling, a Certificate in Counselling Supervision and an Advanced Certificate in Group Facilitation. Like most counsellors, I continue to train and attend courses to further develop my skills and knowledge and am happy to provide details.
I have worked in a variety of contexts as well as my private practice, since qualifying in 2001, some of which continue and include Rape Crisis, domestic abuse, sexual trauma, the local constabulary, student counselling and lecturing
My first session
Our first meeting would be to discuss the difficulties that you feel have led you to seek a counsellor and to see if I might be that person so we really begin to work from the first session as the most meaningful way of helping you make that choice.What I can help with
