About me and my therapy practice

Hello,

Thank you so much for stopping by my supervisor profile. My goal as a supervisor is to create a warm and grounded space where you can feel safe reflecting on your practice and processing challenging client situations. At the core of my supervisory practice I am responsive to your needs as a supervisee and I really honor the flow of a supervision session. I think being a counsellor can sometimes be awkward, clumsy, exhausting and amazing. I really like holding space for all of the nuances that come along with being a therapist. I am really responsive and accessible as a supervisor, making sure that supervisees feel held and supported.

Just a little bit about my background. I have been a therapist for 10 years. I have my bachelor’s degree in human behavior, master’s degree in counselling/psychotherapy. I am fully qualified to work with children and adults. I am a Level 2 EFT practitioner, I also have my Level I certificate in Reality Therapy. I have been trained in Play Therapy, Expressive Arts, Sand Tray Therapy, Group Therapy, Compassion Focussed Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am currently finishing my qualification in nutrition.

I have a huge interest in the mind-gut connection. I am also passionate about somatic processing and polyvagal theory. In my practice I focus on women's mental health and do a lot of work around pelvic bowl trauma and self worth. I love being a therapist and a supervisor. I feel such a deep sense of gratitude for the clients and supervisees I get to work with. I am originally from the USA where I trained as a therapist. When I am not working you can find me hillwalking, or reading fantasy books.

I would absolutely love to hear from you if anything in my profile resonates with you. So please reach out.

I work with both counsellor trainees and more experienced practitioners. Individual Supervision: 45£ per 50 minutes, 80£ per 90 Minutes

My first session

It can take awhile to find a supervisor who resonates. I offer a free consultation with no obligations or strings attached. More of a casual chat over a cuppa. This is just to see if we are a good fit for each other and what you are hoping to get out of supervision. This is done over zoom and usually lasts about 20 minutes.

About me and my therapy practice

First off I want to thank you for stopping by and taking the time to look at my profile. I am so glad that you are here. I am Melissa or Mel as some folks call me. I know going to therapy can be a little scary (okay a lot scary) and it can take a lot of energy to reach out. If you're nervous and feeling a little worried about opening up to a stranger. I totally get it. Getting help is really brave and I hope you recognize the level of courage it takes to even be reading this. I pride myself on creating a warm and comforting environment for every client I work with. I have worked with so many amazing women in my 10 years of being a therapist and it is truly my life's work and my purpose.

I specialize in women's mental health. I do a lot of work around anxiety, depression, disordered eating and low self-esteem. I also work with various women’s issues such as womb-based trauma. Which includes sexual assault/abuse, miscarriages, PCOS, infertility, endometriosis, PMS, PMDD. I work with a lot of different issues so please reach out and we can determine if we are a good fit for each other.

I am a holistic counsellor meaning that I pull from multiple theories and I strongly believe in the mind-body connection and will often incorporate (only if you are comfortable) body-based healing modalities such as meditation, breathe work, and EFT/tapping. I have my bachelor’s degree in human behaviour, my master’s degree in counselling/psychotherapy and I am a Level 2 EFT practitioner. I also have my level I certificate in Reality Therapy. I have been trained in play therapy, expressive arts, sand tray therapy, group therapy, motivational interviewing and stress management. I am also completing my qualification in nutrition.

I am from America where I originally trained as a psychotherapist, now I happily reside in Scotland. When I am not doing counselling related things I am usually hill walking, eating takeaways or attempting to keep my plants alive.
