About me and my therapy practice

I’m an Internal Family Systems and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Practitioner. I also offer EMDR. I provide online therapy to clients across the world, helping people find harmony, balance and restoring a sense of self-leadership.

In our work together I will hold an open-hearted and compassionate space for you to explore the issues that concern you. By utilizing IFS along with somatic work I will guide you to gradually assimilate difficult past events into your understanding and as you do so you will experience an increasing sense of relief and freedom.

Are you living the life you’d hoped for? Do you feel something is missing? Are you feeling confused about your direction in life? Is stuff from the past keeping you from living in the present? When we feel heard, understood and supported by an attentive other we can learn to listen, understand and support ourselves better too.

Practice description

IFS is a therapeutic approach that is based on the belief that we are made up of various parts and that this is absolutely normal. So, for example, we may have parts that react by withdrawing from certain situations, parts that respond with anger on occasions or parts that reach for an extra glass of wine or a box of biscuits when they feel triggered. Throughout the course of our lives these various parts have taken on different roles within our system, often as a result of events and experiences we have gone through. Different parts may also take on negative beliefs that impact our lives in ways that are unhelpful.

In our work together, I will accompany you as you gradually get to know these different parts that make up your system and, with curiosity and open-heartedness, you will gain insight into how they are trying to help you. Offering acceptance and welcome to all parts of us is often healing as the parts finally feel seen, heard and appreciated for what they are doing to keep us safe and protected.

As we witness the vulnerable part's stories we can offer them space to release the burdens they carry of shame, worthlessness, abandonment and other painful beliefs and emotions. As those parts reconnect with the Self you will experience a greater sense of cohesiveness, balance and harmony both in your internal world and also in your relationships with those around you.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) is a therapeutic approach which enables processing of trauma and attachment issues. It welcomes the body as an integral source of information which can guide resourcing and the accessing and processing of challenging, traumatic, and developmental experience. It is a holistic approach that includes somatic, emotional, and cognitive processing and integration. It enables clients to discover and change habitual physical and psychological patterns that can affect our sense of well-being.

Session duration is 1 hour.

My first session

Reaching out for help can be difficult and finding the right therapist for you is essential if you are to feel comfortable within the therapeutic relationship.

I offer a free of charge 15 minute introductory video call where we will discuss the issues you would like to work on and I will explain how I work as a therapist. This will allow us both to decide whether we feel we are a good therapeutic fit for each other.

If we do decide to proceed with therapy I will then ask you complete an intake form, which includes general details and background information, along with a therapeutic contract which outlines what you can expect from me as your therapist and what I expect from you as my client.

Once this is complete we will set a date and time to begin therapy.
