Availability

My office is in the Bierley, Bradford - BD4 area.

I am also offering remote therapy by FaceTime, WhatsApp Video and telephone.

I am available around general office hours.

About me and my therapy practice

I am BACP Accredited and provide counselling in both the long and short term, though this is entirely depending on what you're looking for in terms of support. Common issues I often help with are anxiety, depression, low self esteem, relationships and work stress - though not just limited to these.

I think an initial talk, where we meet and discuss what you are wanting from therapy and then we can decide together how we can work towards your aims, is a really good place to start. No obligation to book anything, as just finding out is a must!

I work in an integrative manner and use approaches such as CBT, Transactional Analysis, Person Centered and Solution Focus, amongst others, to help work through your concerns. This means that I can be adaptive to your preferred way of working and allow you to work on your goals in a way that suits you.

I have worked in a wide range of settings and am also qualified as a supervisor.

For a no obligation free telephone call, please contact me if you would like to make further enquiries.

Practice description

I am able to work with individuals and organizations on a variety of issues. I will explore your presenting issues and look to formulate a plan as to how to address these, and will review during our time together how these are progressing.

I use an integrative approach which means that I am generally able to adapt to your personal style and situation. I find that most issues are multi-layered, and so we will often need to use different approaches to allow us to get you to where you would like to be.

This may include looking at past experiences that are affecting you now, working on strategies for dealing with difficult people in your life, cognitive techniques for managing anxiety or anger, some theories to help understand your family or couple dynamics...or any combination of the above.

As we explore your life and situation, I will also check in with you to frequently make sure we are on the right track. Counselling is certainly, in my opinion, a time when the customer is always right! Its possible to review our work at anytime, and we can always look at next steps to keep you working towards your goals.

My first session

For our first session I find it useful to find out as much as I can about your general situation, as well as what your concerns may be regarding your enquiry for counselling. Common issues can be anxiety, depression, family concerns, low self esteem, work stress - though not limited to these.

We would also look at how counselling may work for you, how frequently it may take place and I can answer any questions you may have. It's useful for me to use some simple assessment tools such as PHQ and GAD (easy to Google these) to get a general feel for how you are in your day to day life. I would also undertake a general holistic assessment of your current situation, as this allows me to see all the stressors and situations going on in your life at the moment. These might include, general health, work, substance use, any social issues and suicide risk.

After our first session we can decide what would be useful for us to work on and we can plan how we will progress from there. Basically, how would you like to be after counselling? Perhaps less reactive to anger, able to spot and reduce repetitive issues in relationships, less anxious...? We will always be able to explore what next steps would be good to consider.
