About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Catherine, welcome to my profile page.  I offer a free, no obligation, 30 minute initial consultation. During that time we can talk about what brings you to counselling, I can gauge if my skills and experience are likely to meet your needs and you can ask any questions you may have.

I qualified as a counsellor in 2006 and since that time have worked with adult clients with a vast range of difficulties. I have worked in the NHS, private practice and community counselling organisations.

I am experienced and qualified in several different talking therapy approaches which means that I can draw on my experience to work in a way that is most suited to your needs.

I offer sessions via video call (zoom) or telephone. I am very experienced in providing counselling in this way and find it to be effective. Accessing counselling remotely means that you can have the sessions in the comfort of your own home and without any unnecessary travel time or costs.

Practice description

I will offer you a safe, confidential and non judgemental space to talk about whatever feels important to you. I will support you in exploring your difficulties so that you gain new awareness and can begin to find a way through the problems that feels right for you. We will work at a pace that feels manageable for you and will regularly review how you are finding the counselling, if you want the focus to remain the same or if anything else has come up that you would like us to work on. This will help to ensure that you get the most from each session.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You might want to talk about challenges you have faced in the past or difficulties in the here and now, or perhaps about loss or relationship problems. You might want to work out why you are experiencing certain feelings or why you are behaving or reacting in ways that don’t sit well with you. Whatever the focus, the way that I work with you will be based on evidence based theory, knowledge and experience, and tailored to your unique individual needs.

My qualifications:

BSc in Reflective Therapeutic Practice, Higher National Diploma in Counselling, Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression Practitioner and Supervisor, Interpersonal Therapy Practitioner and Supervisor, Certificate in Working with Survivors of Abuse.

I know that it can feel really daunting to send an email or to make an initial call to a counsellor, especially if this is your first step towards therapy. Please be assured that I will do all I can to put you at ease, answer any questions you have and to help you get the most from the counselling, should you decide to proceed.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a supervisor of counsellors and also offer meta supervision (supervision for those in supervisory roles).

I have over 15 years experience of providing clinical supervision and meta supervision in an NHS primary care service, both individually and in groups.

I hold qualifications in Integrative Relational supervision (Metanoia Institute) and Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) supervision.

I am also a qualified Interpersonal Therapy supervisor and am a BACP Senior Accredited Supervisor (Individuals).

Practice description

I provide clinical supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors and supervisors working in private practice or who are employed by a range of organisations including NHS Talking Therapy services.

I also provide supervision for trainee PCE-CfD practitioners for a psychotherapy training institute and teach on a Cert/Diploma PCE-CfD supervision course.

I am passionate about supervision and the critical role that it plays in our work as therapists. I bring enthusiasm, curiosity, warmth and experience to the supervisory relationship and would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
