I offer in-person sessions in Moffat and online and telephone sessions during the day, in evenings and also weekends.

I believe that counselling should be a positive experience and have found that clients can overcome or learn to manage their problems in a relatively short time. I can help you find the practical strategies for you to use in your journey towards feeling more fulfilled and content through the addition of my coaching skills.

I am registered to see patients from Aviva, BUPA, Cigna and WPA, both online and on the telephone and in-person in Moffat.

My fees are £40 for individuals and £60 for couples.

 

About me and my therapy practice

I aim to give my clients a  warm and effective counselling experience.

I believe in working with my clients to help them understand how they feel, why they feel that way, and to give them coping strategies, coaching tips, and another way of looking at their lives in order to make them feel better. 

  • I can help you by  listening to you, understanding you, and helping you understand yourself. 
  • By being there for you, listening without judging you, and with my gentle questioning I can help you understand why you feel the way you do and help you move past those feelings and find more contentment. 
  • I can give you useful tips on how to cope with your anxiety, anger, depression and stress
  • I will allow you to say what you need to clear your head and gain clarity and perspective.

I have 12+ years’ experience in counselling individuals, adolescents, and couples  for all types of emotional problems,  particularly with issues of abuse, anxiety, depression, anger & stress management, communication, and self-confidence issues.

If you are looking for a more practical solution, I can also provide coaching tips, giving you the tools to manage anxiety and stress, channelling anger positively, communicating better,  and becoming more confident.

I work with couples to let them understand each other, and their issues, better and to communicate in a much healthier way.

I can also be the person with whom it is safe to just talk and be able to unburden yourself of your problems, with the aim of using an understanding ear to help you cope with your feelings.

  • we can do long-term therapy or shorter term, depending on the issue you want to deal with
  • I work in person in Moffat, and online and by telephone elsewhere

Experience

  • over 12 years of counselling people with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma or abuse (domestic and sexual), low self-esteem issues, anger management and dealing with stress
  • experience of working on an open-ended basis and also in time-limited counselling
  • experience in couples counselling, helping my clients to work through their issues together to reach a mutual understanding and enable respectful communication
  • worked in a college counselling teenagers for all types of issues including depression, abuse, anger management and self-harm
  • experience of group work with people suffering from long-term stress and depression issues, guiding them through the process of self-understanding, acceptance and forgiveness through a combination of counselling and coaching
  • taught Counselling at all levels, as well as Effective Communication and Active Listening courses
  • worked within domestic abuse charities with the survivors of both sexual and domestic abuse – physical and mental
  • I have many years experience in private practice

My first session

The first time you contact me, we will discuss the practicalities of working together and you decide whether I am the Counsellor you want to work with.

I want you to feel comfortable with working with me and leave it to you to decide how often and how many sessions we have.

We will evaluate the sessions as we go along to ensure we don't lose track of your goal.

Some clients may wish for long-term Counselling therapy, but I also am able to provide shorter term brief therapy sessions.

I work in person in Moffat, Dumfries & Galloway but also provide Online and Telephone sessions. 

I ensure your information is kept confidential and that our sessions are secure with the platforms I use.

My fee is competitive and will be discussed at first contact.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an Accredited Counsellor with over 12 years experience of counselling clients for many issues such as anger and stress management, anxiety, low-self esteem, family issues, relationships issues and for all types of abuse and trauma.

I have lectured in all levels of Counselling training from Introduction to Counselling, Counselling Skills and the diploma in Counselling. Alongside this I have created courses for and taught Communication and Listening Skills. My teaching skills have also been developed teaching English as a Foreign Language.

I have also provided group counselling/training to clients with long-term stress and depression issues; providing bespoke training to allow clients to move past their issues and improve their employability prospects.

I am currently providing courses using my own material and am also available to provide training to organisations with whichever issue they wish to train their employees on.

Practice description

As a Trainer I am available for both in-person training at a venue of your choice, and also online. I can be flexible and am prepared to meet your requirements.

I can either train on my own material or with whichever materials you wish. I am empathetic and able to safely manage a classroom environment sensitively and ensuring emotional and physical safety for participants.

My first session

My costs are competitive and provide great value for money and will be discussed depending on your requirements.
