About me and my therapy practice

As a therapist I offer a goal oriented warm-hearted approach to support you in thinking about and exploring what is troubling you at this time.

My orientation is integrative, weaving primarily psychodynamic, psychoanalytic and Jungian modalities. This means there is a breadth of ways we can work together to understand your thoughts and feelings and where there may be patterns and links to discover.

Clients often tell me that they find this helps them to make better sense of their experiences and supports the capacity to bring about changes for greater relational, emotional and mental wellbeing.

Where appropriate I can introduce creative ways of working with your story and experiences such as wondering about links with metaphor, symbols, imagination and the language of your dreams.

I also consider grounded aspects of self care, embodiment and the healing power of nourishing environments.

Practice description

I offer an online private practice for individuals, relationship therapy and what I refer to as career therapy. I also work with individuals experiencing difficulty with larger bodies and weight. You can read more about this on my website - www.deniseelamaley.com

I have over 10 years of clinical experience working in a London-based multidisciplinary private clinic, a women's health charity, and play therapy.

Alongside my private practice, I am a counsellor at Oxford University counselling service.

I have a wealth of corporate experience and insight both clinically working with EAP, as a consultant to orgnisations and being a former Divisional Executive Board member of BACP Workplace Division and as a former international HR Director. I am a contributing writer in the BACP Workplace Journal.

I have an undergraduate degree in French and am a former associate member of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development).

My first session

The first step is to get in touch with me via email and I can either offer you a brief consultation via phone or Zoom followed by an initial session or we can move straight to booking an initial online session.

The initial session is an opportunity to get a sense of what's going on for you at the moment and what you'd like to get out of therapy. It's also a useful opportunity for you to see how you feel about working with me.

If we both proceed then we would meet weekly online on a mutually agreeable day and time. All my sessions are online which I find offers greater scheduling flexibility and accessibility.
