About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Janet, a qualified and experienced counsellor. I offer, secure online or telephone sessions, whatever is best for you.
I know that coming to counselling may feel overwhelming and it is not unusual to feel apprehensive. You are guaranteed a space to talk freely in a confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I have extensive experience supporting individuals with a range of issues, including (not limited to) confidence building, low-mood, stress, depression, relationship problems, anxiety (health & social), low-self esteem, bereavement and family problems.
You are assured that our work will move at your pace and direction. Using an integrative approach, I tailor therapeutic techniques to your needs and I will discuss this with you in our session.
Being comfortable with your counsellor is very important. To see if we are the right fit, I offer a 30 minute telephone or online consultation on request. You are welcome to ask any questions you may have about counselling.
Practice description
Using CBT, Person Centred and psychodynamic approaches, my role is to support you with your reasons and expectations of therapy.
My professional bodies are the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. I work within the professional ethical framework for good practice and offer you a professional experience of therapy.I am an integrative counsellor and tailor my approach to your needs.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity to discuss the reasons for coming to therapy, to consider what you would like to work through and discuss your expectations of therapy. I will take basic personal details as a matter of good practice and you can ask any questions you may have about the counselling process.
I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office and protect your data accordingly.
The confidentiality policy will be explained in full.

Working together we will focus on the areas that cause you concern, stress or distress. Our work will be collaborative and you are assured confidentiality, patience and a space to be yourself.
Each session is 50 minutes but please allow for 1 hour. Sessions are available in person, online or via telephone, whatever is best for you.
My office is based in Wokingham town centre and ample parking is nearby.
