Hi I am Nick. I trained as a counsellor 30 years ago after having had counselling myself. It really helped me get my life back on track and intrigued me to find out more. Over a 4 year period I trained and became eligible for accreditation with the BACP, with which I was subsequently awarded. My training was Person-Centred and this still accurately describes my method but with the added experience and development of seeing many real human beings. I have done this in Primary Care within the NHS in the West End of Newcastle. I have seen a huge variety of clients, women, men, young and old. I work face to face, online or on the telephone. I also offer therapy whilst walking if that approach appeals to you. Of course the best way to find out about me and my practice is to contact me and ask. I also offer person-centred supervision to practising therapists.

My aim is to encourage you to talk, tell your story, hear yourself and understand yourself. This is always a different process with each individual and goes at a pace that you are comfortable with. The frequency and number of sessions is flexible and fits around your needs. Therapy is a developing process.

The first session is for you to understand more about counselling if you are new to therapy. It is a good time to ask any questions you have. It is then about talking about yourself, why you are seeking help and getting a feel for me as a person. It has got to feel right and safe for you and only you can decide that. At the end of this session we would decide a way forward for you, which would always be reviewed as we continue the counselling.

I have been supervising counsellors working in the NHS over the last 20 years. My training is person-centred and I have adapted this approach with experience. I aim to be supportive and create a safe place to talk and think about your work and it's impact on you. I also like to recognise success to develop a balanced view of yourself as a therapist.
