My first session
How do I begin therapy?
The first courageous step is to make contact and arrange a time that we can talk through your concerns. This one hour "Assessment Appointment" is a starting point for the process. Assessment is not clinical in the same way as attending a GP or hospital, neither is it interrogative, intrusive or unnecessarily invasive.
The space provided is simply to understand your history leading up to choosing to seek help and provides a platform for us to decide how best we might work together going forwards. We will cover confidentiality [NB Notes are not stored online. Notes are handwritten, stored and securely archived] receive a clear overview of the options available, discover the therapist’s philosophy and what therapy in practice really looks like. If we decide we are a fit and choose to continue, review takes place approximately every six weeks. Please note that although you may experience a range of feelings, the first session is for assessment only and no therapy takes place.
