About me and my therapy practice

Hello and thank you for taking time to read my profile.

I initially graduated as a person-centred therapist but have since completed post-graduate study in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), plus ad-hoc trainings on specific issues such as PTSD. I can therefore integrate techniques to suit each client’s needs.

I have provided therapy in private practice, NHS Talking Therapies, and agencies where clients were referred from the probation service, social workers, psychiatrists, GPs, and Employment Assistance Programmes. For several years, I was a CRUSE bereavement volunteer and a weekend counsellor in hostels for homeless young people.

My clients have ranged from 16 to 88 years old, from diverse nationalities, sexual orientations and socio-economic backgrounds, including CEOs of nationwide companies. Supported by interpreters, I have also counselled deaf and non-English speaking clients.

My clients have presented with problems including depression, anxiety, phobias, OCD, PTSD, social anxiety, relationship/family issues, career challenges, bereavement, questioning sexuality, sex-addiction, body dysmorphia, long-term/terminal health conditions, low self-esteem, trauma, abuse, divorce, bankruptcy, and relocating nationally/internationally.

As a person-centred therapist, I cannot tell you what to do to fix your problems. However, I can offer you a confidential, non-judgemental space in which to discuss those problems. Then together we identify steps you might take to better cope with those problems.

When using CBT, I introduce tools and techniques that you can use after the therapy ends which reduces your risk of relapse.

My style is down to earth, warm and interactive. I will work at your pace with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.

I know it can be daunting to try therapy to achieve change in your life. But what happens if you don’t take that step?

Please contact me for a brief informal chat at no cost to decide if you would like to try therapy with me.
