About me and my therapy practice

At times we can feel overwhelmed by what is happening in our lives, and within our relationships, a situation can become overtime intolerable, or we may want to make some changes. Choosing to start counselling is a recognition that someone may be able to help, instead of struggling to deal with the issues alone. There may have been a recent crisis, however sometimes it can be difficult to identify the reasons why we feel unhappy, and at these times talking to a counsellor in confidence can be beneficial and enlightening. Together we can work towards identifying patterns of feelings, thoughts and behaviour which may be contributing to your current difficulties.

Sometimes we need help to access our resources and capacities in order to deal with our problems. I work collaboratively, and together we will explore your experiences in order to bring deeper understanding to your way of relating and responding. This offers an opportunity to recognise and manage your feelings and behaviours.

For counselling to be effective there needs to be an honest and trusting relationship, where uncomfortable or difficult matters can be explored in a safe environment. Feeling comfortable enough to put painful or confusing thoughts and feelings into words to identify your experience can bring understanding and relief. So whether you are experiencing relationship struggles, anxiety, a loss in your life, depression, generalised anxiety disorder, stress, feeling low or alone, or coping with illness of others or yourself, counselling can provide you a space where you feel understood and change may be facilitated.

Practice description

You will find me friendly and easy to talk to and my practice is professional and confidential. I will listen and offer you a warm, caring space, to discuss and explore whatever is causing you unhappiness. Striving to create an environment that is non-judgmental, I aim to understand your predicament through your eyes, regardless of gender, age, sexuality, race or religion.

Counselling can be a successful medium to work through issues such as stress, depression, low self-esteem, fear, anxiety, relationship issues, panic attacks, bereavement, childhood trauma, issues relating to identity and self-image.

Counselling is essentially about creating an honest relationship in a safe and discreet environment. Sessions will involve looking at your current life circumstances and dilemmas and finding ways to manage overwhelming fears and concerns, whilst at the same time exploring new perspectives and finding ways for you to feel more empowered and confident to manage them.

As an integrative counsellor, I work across various models of counselling in order to tailor therapy to individually fit your needs, taking a humanistic approach.
