About me and my therapy practice

Hi, My Name is Matt. I am a fully accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist, with six years experience working with those in need of support.

Reaching out for support can be so overwhelming in itself, and once you have made the decision to reach out for support, finding that support can be just as challenging. So I do appreciate the steps you have taken so far along the way to find yourself here, viewing my profile.

I cant be sure exactly what has brought you to this point in time, here, looking for support. But it would be an honour to hear what is going on for you and to have the opportunity to work alongside you as you navigate your way through this point in your life.

Please do feel free to keep reading below hopefully this information will give you a good idea as to whether I would be a good fit for your needs, I have tried to be as clear as possible with what I can offer and how I aim to work.

Practice description

How I can help

For some of us, opening up and sharing can be daunting. It be your first time exploring / articulating these things. I will always offer a confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly and in safety, free from any judgement and pressure. Simply a space where you can just be yourself - no masks or pretence.

How I will work with you

As a Person-Centred therapist, it is not my role to give you advice or my opinion I cant tell you what to do about what you are experiencing in your life, you may even be at a point where the advice and opinions of others is adding pressure. Instead, I aim help empower you towards your own solutions, decisions, resolutions, by offering you genuine empathy, acceptance and honesty.

You may require a space to work through emotions and feelings that you are unable to express elsewhere such as anxiety, sadness, grief for example. I aim to offer you the necessary conditions to process these feelings in a healthy way.

My first session

If you feel as though I may be the right fit for you at the moment, I am more than happy offer an initial phone consultation which can take around 10 minutes - we can use this time to discuss expectations and ensure that we are on the same page to be able to work successfully together.

Please feel free to get in touch with me in which ever way suits you best, phone, email or text message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

During the first session, we can explore further what you are hoping for from counselling and from your counsellor and you can share more details about the issues you wish to bring to the sessions.

I really do appreciate that it can be daunting deciding on a counsellor and then taking the next step to reach out so I try to make this process as stress free and inviting for you as possible to help alleviate some of those initial hurdles.

Please do feel free to get in touch to ask any questions or to arrange an initial appointment.

Sessions will be 50 minutes in length generally weekly but I am more than happy to accommodate your needs, as weekly sessions don't suit everybody
