About me and my therapy practice

I work with clients who are looking for fixed-term or open-ended therapy covering a diverse range of issues, including social anxiety, sexuality, identity and relationships, disordered eating, and difficulties in making and sustaining emotional connections.

Ongoing therapy involves a commitment to attend sessions at the same time on a weekly basis.

Sessions last up to 50 minutes.

(Please note: I do not offer fortnightly sessions.)

When you contact me, please indicate whether you are interested in working face-to-face or online.

It would also be helpful if you could give me a brief idea of what you are hoping to explore and whether you have had previous experience of psychotherapy or counselling.

Practice description

Psychotherapy helps us to explore our life experience at a deeper level. This requires being open to talking about difficult thoughts and emotions, so it can be challenging at times.

Therapy is not a 'quick fix'. I won't tell you what to do or how to do it. I aim to provide a safe and creative space in which we can think about patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving which may not longer be working for you.

As your self –knowledge and insight grow, new perspectives can emerge that will help you re-make your relationship to yourself and to others.

I work within a psychodynamic approach. This kind of therapy looks at who we are in the present, and considers how our early experience has shaped us - often in ways which are outside our awareness.

Meaningful, sustainable change may not be easy, but it is possible.

My first session

Our initial consultation is an opportunity:

- for you to discuss what you are looking for

- for me to get an understanding of you and what you would like to explore

- to explain how I work

- to discuss some practicalities - for instance: confidentiality, fee payment and cancellation policy

- for us to decide together what the next step is...

Initial consultations last up to 50 minutes.

Face-to-face: £90

Online: £100

If we decide to continue, I will send you a Working Agreement for an initial six sessions.

These sessions are intended to deepen my understanding of you and what you would like to work on. They will also give you an opportunity to see if my approach feels right for you.

On the sixth session we can review how things are going.

If we mutually decide to continue, I will ask you to accept a Working Agreement for ongoing therapy in a dedicated weekly appointment.
