About me and my therapy practice

My work as a Child and Adolescent  Therapist (6 - 28 yrs) is a practical, attachment focused, trauma informed and a creatively developed response to specifically respond to children &young adults in difficulty . I really understand that some children  can have big feelings or overwhelming experiences inside that unprocessed, may impact their abilities to thrive or  socially engaged as they once were. Alongside this, changes in behaviour can be  challenging or feel ' out of sync' with family members, peers and in the relational environment of education.

As every human being is unique, I  aim to build relationships that seek to meet the emotional and behavioural needs of a child/ young person from where they are today, tailored to their capacity to engage.

How sessions may work:

If appropriate,  I can integrate a range of therapeutic invitations including;  creativity (drawing and image making)  play , talk, psycho education (about our brains and bodies in distress) and centrally, attachment focused interventions. These seek to respond to where a child or young adult is today.

All children and young people are invited to express whatever is important to them without judgement. Sessions travel at a child/ young adults  pace, as we explore experiences and the meanings of them. If appropriate, I can also offer school or professional link up so that the needs and safety of a child/young person is joined up and thoughts about in different ways.
